Last week I was researching some homemade cleaning product recipes and along the way I discovered some startling (to me) ideas to save money and the planet at the same time! Who knew?
For instance...Did you know white vinegar can be used as a fabric softener? and a hair conditioner? and as an ingredient in all purpose cleaners? Yes,yes it can!
Okay, so now you are using vinegar to soften your clothes and those dryer sheets are just gathering dust in your laundry room. Right away you notice that you are experiencing static electricity in your drying clothes. Would you believe...a wadded up piece of aluminum foil tossed in the dryer with the wet clothes will get rid of the static! I tested it...it works!
Here's one more little tidbit for today...
Did you know those charcoal filters that are sold for kitty litter boxes work great to tame the smells in your kitchen wastebasket and your under-the-sink compost can? Yep! Just glue one to the lid and it will last around 90 days!
My journey into green living, one little step at-a-time is going to be a real eye-opener, I can see that already! I hope you'll come along and share your tidbits and ideas, too. After all, it is almost Earth Day...isn't this almost like making New Year's Resolutions in January? (giggle) Except I aim to continue with my quest to be kinder to our planet.
What are you doing to green up your environment?
Big Green Hugs,
